Mikael Wehner is the director of Pixelvärk and one of the people behind the Swedish VJ Union. He is a graphic designer and visual artist under the name The Midi Thief and active in a group called Instructions.

Mikael has studied magazine design at Berghs School of Design and graphic design at California Institute of the Arts. At the latter he discovered the world of motion graphics and also made his first contact with the VJ world.

When VJ ing his style is very graphic, colorful and rhythmic. Mikael is not very concerned with story telling but rather setting a mood. He does not feel the urge to fill up the whole square of the screen, rather going between symetric and asymetrical compositions, minimal and maximal. Mikael has co-operated with various DJs and music artists, performed at festivals and given demos.

Mikael is running the Pixelvärk festival together with Gorki Glaser-Müller. Mikael will also take part in the VJ jam on friday february 5th under his artist alias, The Midi Thief. Remember that face, as a Pixelvärk visitor, you will se a lot of it. Probably and hopefully without shades however.
