Slowly coming back to a normal life after Pixelvärk, I was checking out the short film “O heliga natt” that our assistant Niklas Andersson had entered in the on-line section of the Dragon Awards only to realize that he had won! Last time we saw him was early saturday evening when he, sleep deprived from hard work rigging projectors and filming during Pixelvärk, was taking off to attend the awards ceremony. Pixelvärk 2010 has come to an end and we are very happy with how it turned out. Thanks to everybody that came to see the performances, the lectures and to those who participated in the workshops! The festival wouldn’t have come together without the help of few people that we (Mikael and Gorki) would like the opportunity to thank:

Our set designer Erika Weissenberg, our assistants Niklas Andersson and Jesper Nilsson the supporting organizations: Startsladd (Andreas Aplelqvist, Dan Nordgren and Daniel Strömberg) and Pixelache (Juha Huuskonen and Nathalie Aubret), the people at ABF who gave us space for lectures and workshops (Lars Wiberg, Ralph Utbelt), The Eye (Göran Dahlström och Cazuma) and Trickski, The Gothenburg International Film Festival (Charlotta Miller, Paula Wahlbom, Håkan Westesson and Henric Strahl), DJs Kid Sid, Jethro and the Balkan Beat Party and last but not least the artists who gave lectures and performed at the parties: Anna “Bopa” Boberg, Startsladd, Vidiots, Startsladd, Johan Söderberg, Morrsken, Lysbang, Fetish23, The Midi Thief and Ilan Katin.

The only live broadcast that worked (we had sound problems in our first attempt) with VJ Morrsken (in Swedish) could still be viewed on-line: www.pixelvark.se/live-stream/.

We hope to release more recorded material from the festival in the near future. This material will have much higher quality. Please join our mailing list to stay updated!

LIVE BROADCAST!

We will broadcast the lecure in Audiovisual Collaborations with Ilan Katin 14:00-15:00 (GMT +1) live and the same for the lecture with VJ Morrsken saturday 11:00-12:00 (GMT +1). I can’t guarantee that the Morrsken lecture will be in english however.

It’s the first time we’re doing this (and kind of thrown together last minute) so we don’t know how it will turn out but we’ll do an honest attempt. Both lectures will probably start 15 minutes after the official start time and might run over the end time.

The opening party went great! Startsladd performed very well and busted out some new fresh material at the end. Bopa proved why she is a world class VJ with a very good understanding of the music. And it wasn’t easy! Trickster DJ Kid Sid what changing the tempo like a mad man. Johan from Vidiots rounded up with their high style graphics while DJ Jethro was pumping his dirty electronic beats.

No sleep for Pixelvärk. After taking down our projectors and getting home at 6 in the morning, we’re already up preparing for the Bopa lecture at ABF this afternoon. Why don’t you come and join us?

The DJ/VJ schedule for the Gothenburg International Film Festival’s opening party (fri 29) at Trädgår’n is set and has been updated slightly:

02:30-03:15 VJs: Startsladd / DJs: Balkan Beat
03:15-04:15 VJ Bopa / DJ Kid Sid+DJ Jethro
04:15-05:00 VJs Vidiots / DJ Kid Sid+DJ Jethro

The VJ/DJ overlap won’t match exactly, but you get the picture.

We are proud to announce that we have booked the artist Ilan Katin who works for Garagecube. Ilan will give a workshop in Modul8 and a lecture in audiovisual collaborations. Exact schedule and a signup form for the workshop will be announced shortly. Stay tuned!
